About formal recruitment

Formal Recruitment at The University of Texas at Austin involves 13 National Panhellenic Conference chapters. Eligibility to participate and join a sorority requires enrollment as a full-time student at the university and excludes individuals who are new members or initiated members of any National Panhellenic Conference sorority. Throughout the recruitment process, participants have the opportunity to explore different chapters, learn about their values, traditions, and sisterhood bonds, and ultimately find their perfect fit within the Greek community. It's a journey of personal growth, lifelong friendships, and a sense of belonging within a vibrant culture of Greek life.

mutual selection voting process

Formal Recruitment is a mutual selection process that balances the preferences of potential new members with those of existing sorority chapters. The University Panhellenic Council aims to provide every young woman with an opportunity to find a sorority that aligns with her personality, interests, and future goals, while ensuring an organized membership selection process for the chapters. While we strive to give each potential new member the best opportunity to join her preferred sorority, but there are no guarantees of placement. It is essential to maintain an open mind during the recruitment process and utilize the time to meet and make new friends.

values-based

Values-based sorority recruitment prioritizes aligning potential new members' personal values with those of sorority chapters. It emphasizes integrity, sisterhood, scholarship, leadership, and philanthropy to foster authentic connections and meaningful experiences for all involved.
