Finances
Dues in sororities are essential as they fund a range of activities that enrich the college experience, such as social events, community service projects, and leadership development opportunities. These contributions also help maintain the facilities and resources that create a supportive and engaging environment for members.
-
Chapter dues fund chapter operations, educational programming, social events, philanthropic initiatives, and national organization fees.
-
Additional/optional fees may include meal plans, merchandise purchases, or participation in extra events beyond required chapter activities.
-
Before joining a sorority, it's important to recognize that becoming a new member entails affiliating with the organization. Should you decide to disaffiliate later on, you may still be liable for fulfilling the financial commitments outlined in your contract.
During Primary Sorority Recruitment, prospective new members should inquire about financial obligations, payment options, and available scholarships. Each sorority determines its own fees, housing costs, and payment schedules.
Upon receiving a bid to membership, most chapters at The University of Texas at Austin provide payment plans and scholarships to support members with financial needs. For additional assistance, the University Panhellenic Council offers various scholarship opportunities for members of our community.
Scholarship applications can be found on the Resources Page.
