Financial Responsibilities



REQUIRED FEES

Chapter fees fund various organization activities such as national fees, chapter facilities, social and sisterhood events, service activities, merchandise, and more programming to enhance members’ experiences. The ranges below include chapter dues and housing information:

  • New Member Fall Semester: $1,547.50 - $2,860.00

  • New Member Spring Semester: $1,185.00 - $2,790.00

  • Active Member (Out of House): $1,023.00 - $2,465.00

  • Active Member (In House)*: $5,150.00 - $7,178.00

    *Includes Room and Board

These figures are for each semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. You will be provided with chapter-specific figures in the financial transparency guide that will be available on the PNM canvas page at the start of recruitment.

You are encouraged to always ask chapters about this important information and other chapter-specific costs!

ADDITIONAL/OPTIONAL FEES

Additional costs throughout the semester may include: parking at the chapter house**, optional meal plans, pictures, gifts, social events, T-shirts, etc.

Please note that you are affiliating with that organization when you become a new member of a sorority. If at any time you decide to disaffiliate, you may still be held responsible for fees or payments required to fulfill your contract with the organization. During formal recruitment, a potential member should ask sorority members about financial obligations, payment options, and if they offer scholarships. Each sorority sets its own fees and housing costs as well as its payment schedule.

Affordability and Assistance

Most chapters at The University of Texas at Austin offer payment plans and scholarships for members who need financial assistance. Please note that when you become a new member of a sorority, you are affiliating with that organization. If at any time you decide to disaffiliate, you may still be held responsible for fees or payments required to fulfill your contract with the organization. UPC also has scholarships that are announced during the school year to assist with dues.
