Blog Editors: What inspired you to serve as president in your chapter?

Megan: “I think I was just really passionate. I really wanted to give back to a chapter that has given so much to me. I've just found my best friends in Chi O, and I feel like I'm surrounded by people that genuinely push me to want to be this insane overachiever and a better person. I knew that giving back would make me feel like I was making a small impact on something that's given me so much.”

Blog Editors: What goals do you have for your presidency, and what legacy do you want to leave on your chapter?

Megan: “I really wanted to focus on uniting our chapter as a whole and making friends across pledge classes, and just making Chi O really feel like a home for everybody. I feel like that's been my biggest goal, to always represent ourselves in our chapter while on campus. The legacy that I want to leave behind (is) that I was an intentional and empathetic leader in that I always put the chapter before my own needs or opinions.”

Blog Editors: What’s the most rewarding thing that’s come out of your term?

Megan: “When people in Chi O that are younger than me come up to me, and they make me feel so valued and appreciated. I think sometimes it's really nice to just receive compliments and reinforcements that you're doing a good job, and that people look up to you, because I think it can be easy to forget that. It makes me feel like I'm doing everything the way that I hoped and dreamed.”

Blog Editors: How would you describe a Chi O in 3 words?

Megan: Authentic, Fun, and Inspiring.

Blog Editors: What is your favorite tradition?

Megan: “I love celebrating our birthday every year. We have a super special tradition and ritual, and we all get prideful about celebrating Chi O's birthday because it's the reason that we're all in the sorority. We invite all the alumni to the house in the Austin area, we always get a birthday cake and have a little bit of a celebration.”

Blog Editors: What’s your “must-see” when you have visitors in Austin?

Megan: Chuy’s on Barton Springs!

Blog Editors: What is the best thing Chi O has given you?

Megan:  “I would 100% say the friendships that I've made; the friends that I've met in Chi O are so different than any other friendships I've ever had in my life. I'm just genuinely obsessed with my friends and want to be with them 24/7. I've never had such genuine, fun, and also sisterly friendships. I feel like I have 340 extra sisters, and it's so special.”

Blog Editors: What is your favorite activity to do with your sorority sisters?

Megan: “I would say our long walks in West Campus. We always have big groups, and we go for super fun walks, and ramble on for hours and hours. Also I think lunch and house meals with my friends is so fun because we all join together after a long day and we're eating dinner and laughing.”

Blog Editors: What’s one thing you wish you knew about UT?

Megan: “I wish I knew how important it is to stay true to yourself throughout your time here. I think it can be super hard to compare yourself to people in almost every way, and trusting your gut and your path and pushing yourself, but also just staying true to who you are is so important in order to get through these four years, and really make it.”

Blog Editors: What’s one thing you wish you knew about recruitment as a PNM?

Megan: “Tune out the outside noise and just stay true to yourself, and when you get that gut feeling walking into a house, just trust that. Don't be afraid to take risks, because you are most often going to end up exactly where you're meant to be.”

Blog Editors: Any general advice you have for girls on the fence about going Greek?

Megan: “I just think shoot your shot, what I always say is you'll never regret trying it, but you'll always regret not giving it a shot. I think you know it can bring you so much more than you might realize, and so there's no harm in just trying it out and seeing where it takes you.

We hope you loved getting to know Megan better! Tune in next week to read about another president!

All my love,

Victoria :)
