Everything Spring Break!

Dear readers,

We hope you’ve enjoyed our recent blog posts as much as we’ve enjoyed writing them! With midterms officially behind us, spring break is finally here and it’s time for a well-deserved pause on school. Texas Panhellenic values each and every one of our members and wants everyone to have a fun and safe week ahead.

Before you head off to a new zip code for the week, we want to share a few important safety tips for everyone traveling this spring break. Whether you’re catching a flight somewhere new or piling into a car for the freshman year canon event road trip (yes Destin, we’re talking about you), we hope these recommendations help you make the most of your break while staying safe. Here are a few from our VP of Wellness, Rachel Dolan, and VP of Standards, Sarah Dewees:

Before You Go:

  • Plan ahead. Have a general itinerary, transportation plan, and know the laws or regulations wherever you’re traveling.

  • Traveling internationally? Look up the nearest U.S. embassy ahead of time (super  helpful if something like a passport gets lost).

Travel Smart:

  • Share your location with the people you’re traveling with so everyone can keep track of each other.

  • Use the buddy system. Especially if you are somewhere new, stick with your friends and look out for one another.

  • Stay aware of your surroundings. Double-check your hotel rooms and accommodations and stay mindful of what’s happening around you.

  • Consider safety tools. Items like Birdies or AirTags (on you or your belongings) can add an extra layer of security.

  • Road trip safely. If you’re driving long distances, make sure someone stays awake with the driver.

Take Care of Yourself:

  • Hydrate! If you’re somewhere hot or walking around a lot, prioritize water and electrolytes (Liquid I.V., Gatorade, or anything that helps keep you hydrated).

  • Pack snacks and remember to eat. Keeping your body fueled will help you feel your best throughout the day.

  • Bring sunscreen and reapply it. No one wants a sunburn on day one ruining the rest of the trip. Officials recommend SPF 50 for intense sun—be sure to reapply approximately every two hours.

Whether you're planning for a relaxing day on the beach or an excursion in the city, the right outfit can be a game-changer on vacation.  It's always important to be prepared for whatever the conditions are—you can’t fully trust that weather app. Below are our Blog Editor’s picks to give you some inspiration for your week ahead!

Here's what we've seen on our feeds recently:

Silk scarfs are so in! Look no further if you ever need a statement piece to go around your bag, maybe in your hair, or even tied over skirts and dresses.

Stripes and sequin designs seem to be winners when it comes to fun patterns. You see them in matching sets, strapless tops, and even on handbags. These fun elements can elevate a simple outfit and make you the main event!

Bright fun colors are coming back in full swing now that the weather is warmer. As long as the sun is out, so are the bright teals, corals, yellows and greens! Whether it's in the form of a  beachy dress or pants, there is never a dull moment—or photo op—when you have those colors on.

While you’re going with the flow on spring break, try on a trending flowy fit. Ranging from a looser, babydoll top to some relaxed linen pants, choose your vibe. We hope your break stays in the flow zone!

Your editors are as ready for spring break as you are—trust us. Our Pinterest boards are full, bags are packed, and flights are booked. Here’s what our spring break closets are looking like!

Shreya’s Pick: Lately, I’ve been a huge fan of button-downs tucked into jeans and Mary Janes. For anyone not going on a beach vacation—I’m heading to D.C. for the week—throw on a Julia Roberts inspired look!

Madi’s Pick:  I wholeheartedly believe an outfit is not complete without its accessories. Currently, I can’t stop reaching for a good pair of kitten heels (I’m forcing myself to only pack two pairs) and my tried and true pearl earrings.

Victoria’s Pick: Lots and lots of yellow! I’m also loving the stripes and fun colors when it comes to a perfect walk on the beach.

And of course, every good trip starts with an overpacked suitcase. We’ve put together an editor’s choice list of things you definitely don’t want to leave behind.

  • Digital Camera (to save those memories and prepare for your next instagram post)

  • Playing cards (a good way to hang up and hangout with your friends!)

  • Hair ties (they disappear on vacation and you can never have too many)

  • First aid bag (can never be too prepared)

  • A good beach read (Five stars to “I Didn’t Know I Needed This” by Eli Rallo)

Wherever this spring break takes you, we hope this helps you feel ready for the week ahead. Remember to look out for yourself and your friends while traveling, and don’t forget to take lots of pictures along the way!

Have the best week, and we’ll see everyone back on the Forty soon!

All our love,

The Blog Editors
